Seeking Models for Studio & Location Photo Shoots! Are you interested in getting a chance to pose and model in front of the lens? Do you need some personal photographs for your social networking or other online sites or just to share with friends and family, or do you enjoy being in front of a camera just for the fun of modeling and being photographed? Are you trying to put together a portfolio of your images or even start a modeling career? If so, then perhaps I can help! I’m a photographer trying to improve my skills shooting people (with the camera, of course). I routinely enroll in photography classes and workshops and I'm always needing live models / subjects for various projects (my cats are sick of being photographed and my friends now hide whenever they see me coming!). As a photographer, I'm always looking for a wide range of people to shoot to practice and better my skills in photography. I have a small professional studio setup at home, which can be portable for studio setup elsewhere, and I also can arrange to do shoots on location as long as it's in the metro Atlanta area (preferably within 25 miles of the city center). I travel some and also am willing to meet models in other areas for photoshoots when traveling. Check out my galleries on the site to get an idea of the kinds of images I take and the type of subjects I enjoy or have done. Please keep in mind I'm fairly open to a wide range of ideas, so feel free to make suggestions. One of my most favorite models to shoot is the model who brings some of his or her own ideas to the set! One point of clarification before I continue: When I use the term "model" here, I am speaking in the broadest sense: a human subject to photograph. This means I photograph all types of people without regard to physical appearance, gender, race, sexual orientation, or any other irrelevant characteristics related to photographing a person. I think everyone has some artful beauty in them, and part of my job (as the photographer) is finding it and bringing it out through the lens. So while I love photographing a beautiful "classic" model look, I equally enjoy photographing those unpolished everyday "Joes" and "Janes", too. So I bet you are wondering about the rules, the policies, the proverbial fine print? Well I don’t have a ton of rules or requirements, but there are a few and they’re not negotiable. I do not charge you (usually-there are exceptions for commercial photography) anything to take your photographs, and I do not pay you (usually-there are exceptions if I'm looking for a model for a particular project) anything to take your photographs. As "compensation" for your consent to photograph you and for your time modeling for me, I use the TF* approach, and I will provide anyone I photograph with a set of the best post-production digital images (provided to you via email or on a DVD/CD disc) from the shoot with rights back to you for your own personal use (or if you are paying for a commercial shoot, you can purchase licenses for the images you wish to use). I really dislike having to deal with legal stuff, but in the short time I’ve taken up photography seriously I’ve learned I don’t really have a choice when it comes to copyright. Anyone and everyone I photograph (including my own friends and family) is required to sign a Model Release to avoid any legal problems (for you and for me) and to protect the copyright of my images. I use different releases depending on if it's a paid shoot with a professional model (see this Model Release), a TF* or paid shoot with new or non-pro models (see this Model Release) or a portfolio development only shoot with either pro or non-pro models (see this Model Release). Basically, when it gets down to it, they all say essentially the same thing: that it's okay to photograph you, you are over 18 years of age, you understand I hold the copyright to the images, and then outlines how you and I can use those images (whether commercially or just for portfolio development). And for purposes of these releases, a "professional model" is one who models, at least part-time, as a career and generally gets paid for their shoots; a "non-professional model" is any person who does a photoshoot with me who does not model for a living as a career (like my friends and family or people just starting out in modeling or who just need some photos of themselves regardless of whether they sometimes get paid). I also have license agreements I provide to individuals seeking a commercial shoot. I only photograph people over the age of 18 (no kids, no exceptions, even with parental consent), and you must provide a legal photo ID (driver’s license, etc.) to verify your age and identity. Women are always free to bring along a friend. I am open to doing tasteful/sensual nudes including adult/boudoir and erotic photographs, black-and-white erotica, fetish images and such, but I am not interested in just taking close up shots of your naked crotch or behind. You can do that easily enough with a smartphone. I have cats (several of them) so if you are allergic, shooting on location rather than in my studio is probably better for your health. Having said that, I live in metro Atlanta and so the location would have to be relatively nearby as I don't have a lot of time or resources to go far. I’m usually available early mornings or later afternoons during the week, sometimes weekday evenings and most weekends to do shoots – and most shoots take about 90 minutes on average, just depending on the purpose or complexity of our shoot. Please Contact Me to let me know of your interest and what kinds of images/photography you might have in mind, and I’ll try to accommodate you as best I can. Also, if you have a relatively recent (like in the past year or two) digital image of yourself please send it along with your inquiry (or direct me to where it is on the Internet); it may give me some ideas about how we can work together for the shoot if I can see your face, build, and so on. Finally, a few points to keep in mind before a shoot: Men, please pay attention to grooming (ear and nose hair, nails, etc.) since these shots are sometimes very close and magnify these details dramatically; and women, please have major hair styling and makeup done prior to the shoot. I can help men with basic makeup to reduce shine and dryness. Anyone is welcome to do wardrobe/prop changes at the shoot as needed, but I'm not a makeup artist and cannot help with complex makeup. However, I do know a few MUAs who may be willing to help out for a shoot if needed. On occasion, I also have a special project in the works where I'm looking for a specific type person, location or item for which I usually pay a basic rate. Check back here to see if I have a current project going as this is where I'll post it. |
